Caring for the environment
At the Southville Centre we are committed to working in a sustainable way. As part of being a sustainable organisation we have written our commitment to working in an environmentally friendly way for our staff and customers to refer to. In addition we have a visitor commitment that we ask our customers to acknowledge when using the Centre and hopefully beyond. We are a gold standard member of the Green Tourism Business Scheme and hope that our customers and visitors will appreciate our efforts and do their bit to care for the environment both here and elsewhere. www.green-business.co.uk

We are taking action to improve the environment by implementing a range of policies and by complying to environmental laws. These include:
- Supporting the Sustainable Southville project by providing administration facilities and meeting space.
- Organising, supporting and publicising environmental and cultural activities and events.
- Nurturing and monitoring our outdoor space for Centre users, employees and our nursery and afterschool club children.
- Using environmentally friendly products.
- Reducing waste, recycling paper, cardboard, cans and glass bottles, printer cartridges, mobile phones.
- Reducing energy and water consumption and loss.
- Encouraging our users to travel to the Centre on foot, bicycle or public transport.
- Buying local goods and services, and employing local trades people and local staff wherever possible.
